More cupcakes for Evelyn and her boys

I was more than happy to make more, especially since Evelyn and family came all the way from Ozland to taste my bakes! She had earlier taken a sugee cake up to Penang to celebrate her aunt's 70th birthday(see previous post). I was particularly nervous about that but it survived the journey and still tasted good 4 days later! Thanks dear, hope you're having a good holiday here.

I also threw in some of these choc ones to get some feedback on a new recipe. We all felt the same... too dry. I suppose I'll stick with the Devil's Foodcake recipe.

On a budget

A certain organization celebrates their employee's birthdays with individual cakes. It can be a costly affair. Therefore, I have offered to provide an assortment of cakes within their limited budget. Here's the first cake and hopefully more orders to come! Happy birthday Baldish and thanks for introducing my cakes to Lowe.

Now to go through my recipe books for more....

Note: And a special thanks to Stephie Leigh on her idea for this method of colouring and piping the frosting.

A colourful day

*Cough, cough, cough...* Feeling a little under the weather on a warm, warm day, a trooper never gives in! How could I? I would have disappointed a lot of people in one day if I did. But look... see all the pretty colours I got to work with. It made up for the fact that I had to work until 2am... blah, the washing up can wait 'til morning!

Good to be home

Vacations are always nice but it's true, there's no place like home. I know some of my regulars tried to call and I apologize for causing any inconvenience.

I've almost forgotten how difficult it is to work with buttercream in this heat. Nevertheless, I don't think these turned out too bad. I hope Faridz's lucky girl pal feels the same.
